CPS Public Policy Exchange: Children's Services National Conference - 18th June 2008Building on the achievements of the Every Child Matters Agenda the Children's Secretary, Ed Balls, outlined details of The Children's Plan: Building Brighter Futures through which, it is hoped, the Government's long-term vision for children, young people and families will be fully realised. Some of the key themes of the plan include:
Empowering Schools, Supporting Families and Improving Childcare
A 'New Way of Working' with a Renewed Drive Towards Integrated Services
Implementing a Strategy for Play and Positive Activities
Developing a Comprehensive Child Health Strategy
Through a series of interactive sessions, this special national conference will explore how The Children's Plan can be implemented effectively at the local level to deliver the Government's stated pledge to close the achievement gap and improve the learning and well-being of all children by the year 2020.
