This website contains information on episodes of hospital care in England between April 1999 and March 2003 (and, for some analyses, up to March 2005). Using HES (Hospital Episode Statistics) data, the website includes the following information.

Case-mix: clinical combinations
Diagnoses and/or operations that occur on the same Finished Consultant Episode record. The same analyses are available by Specialty.

Case-mix: position of diagnoses on records
For each diagnosis, show the place on the record where the condition is coded - whether, for example, in the main position or elsewhere, on the first, the last, or an intermediate FCE.

Case-mix: position of operation on records
For each operation show the place on the record where it is coded - whether, for example, in the main position or elsewhere, on the first, the last, or an intermediate FCE.

Counts
Spells and people by diagnosis from HES data, comparing counts given by analysing Continuous Inpatient Spells and individual people.
