The annual report Drug Treatment in the South East: Analysis of the 2008/09 NDTMS dataset can also be downloaded from the DTMU website using the link above. This report contains analysis of the 2008/09 NDTMS dataset for adults and young people resident in the South East in treatment for drug misuse. It examines client demographics, drug use, and treatment journeys. A methodology document has also been published which outlines the methodology used for the analysis of the 2008/09 NDTMS dataset.
 
The 2008/09 Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) data profiles [03 Mar 2010]
The 2008/09 Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) data profiles are two page summary reports for each DAAT in the South East for adults and for young people in drug treatment. The reports contain analysis of data from the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) and from other relevant sources. The new reports and guidance documents can be downloaded from the DTMU website.
 
Active Travel Strategy [23 Feb 2010]
The Government wants to see access to cycle training for every child, creating a generation of new, safe cyclists according to Transport Minister Sadiq Khan. This is one of the aims of the 'Active Travel Strategy' - published today - which outlines plans to put walking and cycling at the heart of local transport and public health strategies over the next decade. The other aims of the strategy include: - Every major public sector employer to be signed up to the Cycle to Work Guarantee - Cycle parking at or within easy reach of every public building - Sufficient secure bike parking at every rail station - Local authorities introducing 20mph zones and limits into more residential streets to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists

The Marmot Review into health inequalities in England was published on 11 February 2010. It draws further attention to the evidence that most people in England aren’t living as long as the best off in society and spend longer in ill-health. Premature illness and death affects everyone below the top.

Focusing on the four most common cancers (lung, colorectal, breast and prostate), it examines inequalities in access to and quality of care, in relation to age, sex, deprivation and area of residence.

The manifesto is based on findings from research and debates which took place in the region in autumn 2009. South Central Public Health Intelligence Training [15 Dec 2009]
South East Public Health Observatory and NHS Education South Central are offering an introductory five day training course in public health intelligence skills for analysts working in the South Central Strategic Health Authority area. The course is aimed at analysts at the start of their career. It will be held in Oxford and will run from Nov 2009 – Feb 2010 with one training day being held every two weeks (except over holidays). THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS HAS NOW CLOSED. However presentations can be viewed from these days, as and when they become available.
