Health needs assessment

SEPHO has access to expertise in assessing population health needs. We use a range of different methodologies, selecting the most appropriate combination for your needs.

It is a structured process that begins with identifying a clear objective and goes on to the collection and analysis of data from local and national sources.

The work includes mapping health needs, identification of areas of inequality, key points and recommendations for action.

We work closely with local contacts and liaise regularly with the steering group to make best use of often complex data. We often find that a useful by-product of this process is the development of a network of local experts.

We have undertaken Health Needs Assessments or Health Equity Audits for:

  • Specific population groups - e.g. drug users in a PCT area, prison populations, people Localities – a PCT or Local Authority area
  • With chronic diseases such as diabetes.
  • Thematic HNAs - e.g. mental health, older people
