Welcome to the South East Public Health Observatory (SEPHO)

The fourth annual set of local Health Profiles is published now and demonstrates key advances in the nation’s health. Longer life expectancy, reductions in early deaths from heart disease and cancer, and reductions in smoking related deaths all provide evidence of an improving picture of health.

APHO has launched the HES e-Atlas – an interactive template displaying standardised rates for common primary diagnosis and procedures at local authority level.

The e-Atlas opens within the web browser and users can explore common hospital admissions data and activity over a period of 5 years. A guidance document clearly explains how the data was extracted and also links with the health profiles summary reports.

Comparison of Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) 2004 and 2007 using rank of combined score. This is an analysis of relative movement up or down in ranking of deprivation score, using different geographical groupings. A better or worse ranking only reflects a relative, not absolute, change in deprivation level.
