Welcome to the South East Public Health Observatory (SEPHO)

We provide access to public health information in the region and publish a range of reports and toolkits. We support and monitor local action to improve public health. SEPHO incorporates the South East Drug Treatment Monitoring Unit (DTMU) and the Oxford Cancer Intelligence Unit (OCIU).

South East Regional Health Profiles 2009

The format for the 2009 profiles has been changed to provide more information on individual regions and more input from the Regional Directors of Public Health. The 2009 profiles include 4 more pages, more text, regional maps of relevant health indicators, and comparison of local authority areas to the regional average as well as the England average.

National Child Measure Programme (NCMP) 2008/09

Results from the 2008/09 NCMP were published by the NHS Information Centre (NHS IC) on 10th Dec 2009. The 2008/09 NCMP took height and weight measures of over 1 million children in England. In the South East, 8.7% of children in Reception year (aged 4-5 years) were classified as obese and 16.0% of children in Year 6 (aged 10-11 years).

The National Obesity Observatory has published Local Authority and Primary Care Trust e-atlases for the examination of 2008/09 NCMP results and data from previous NCMP years, along with other relevant indicators including measures of local area deprivation. Click here to access the data.

South East England Indicator Tool (SEEIT)
Gap Measurement Tool

SEEIT, the South East England Indicator Tool, is a ‘one-stop’ resource bringing together trends, projections and PCT plans and LAA trajectories for a range of Vital Signs and National Indicators.

The South East Health Inequalities Gap Measurement Tool provides a standardised approach to analysing health inequalities gaps and trends based on mortality rates for deprivation score-based quintiles of super output areas.
